EduTech Asia Singapore 2024 with StoryJourney
EduTech Asia at Sands Expo & Convention Centre Singapore 2024

Hushed tones of conversations coursed through the aisles at Sands Expo & Convention Centre Singapore like an electric current, where dreams of what education might one day be were spun into concrete ideas, and each booth told a story. Yet one stood apart, not for its glitz or grandeur, but for the revolution it whispered to those who would stop long enough to listen.

It began with the mundane PDF or a PowerPoint slide. Those teaching aids that, for many, seemed to weigh them down like anchors more than let them soar with their sails. Yet here, they exploded. For with just a few clicks, these static pages of traditional materials came alive, reborn as brightly colored, dynamic videos. The tool bore the name StoryJourney, but its name didn't have to shout. It is enough that people's faces did.

eJourney, an online platform that went on a journey to change education, introduced itself into the EduTech scene through Petraverse last year. The name stuck and thus, the doors swung open for this year's invitation. But that wasn’t the case for this return trip. This time with something new in its crib, StoryJourney, with a purpose much higher than innovation which is to empower educators, especially women whose voice often carries the weight of shaping futures unseen.

The world of education, like so many others, sometimes hovers heavy with expectations. For women educators, the weights might double, since they balance between the 'weight of the classroom' and the multitude of roles given to them in society. And yet, they teach. They create. They give. StoryJourney was built for them, not to lighten the load but to make it something extraordinary.

Brilliant as it was, the tool's ease of operation alone. However, it drew audible gasps from passers-by at the booth. Its actual magic was in its function. StoryJourney enables teachers to tell their stories and lessons in ways that break through the monotony of traditional methods. There, amidst the chaos of the expo, educators from around the world—Chile, Australia, America, and beyond—leaned in to watch their slides transform into something alive.

And as they watched, something else stirred. Possibility.

Felix Pasila, CEO of eJourney, stood on the Show & Tell stage to share not just a product but a vision. His voice carried calm confidence as he spoke of a future where educators could meet their students where they are—engaged, curious, ready to learn. But he didn't speak of technology in abstract terms or grand promises. He spoke of people. "We wanted to take what educators are already using and make it better," he said, working the narrative of why StoryJourney existed in the first place.

There was something peculiarly touching to seeing women educators at this booth, shining with a potential surprise. The tired notion that technology was complicated or exclusive seemed to dissolve in real time. To them, this wasn't just another gadget but a chance to reclaim creativity, to turn lessons into heard-and-felt experiences.

EduTech Asia had no shortage of dazzling innovations, bold declarations, and sleek designs. But in the understated charm of StoryJourney lay something deeply humane—a reminder that the soul of teaching lies, not in the tools, but in the stories that they help us tell. And to women educators who have long carried those stories, often against the grain, this was a tool that said, "Your voice matters. Let's amplify it."

As the crowd thinned and the banners came down toward the end of the exhibition, so did the bags get packed by the StoryJourney team. They were leaving with more than they brought—conversations that sparked ideas, moments that planted seeds, and the quiet satisfaction of knowing that they'd touched something real.

Of course, the work is far from over. StoryJourney is just beginning to trace its journey. But in Singapore, among the busy halls of Sands Expo, it was clear the story it tries to weave isn't about education alone. It's about belief in the power of women educators to shape futures, belief in the quiet magic of storytelling, and belief that technology can be more than a tool. It could be a partner, an ally, a spark, and a breakthrough in education.

And perhaps to the women who stood at the booth or heard of StoryJourney, that was also a reminder of something they know deep down but don't hear much spoken out. Their work isn’t unimportant, but it's game-changing. Their stories aren't just there, but they move the world forward. StoryJourney was there to help tell those stories and in doing so became part of one itself.
